Saints make 5th-year option decision on Tyree Wilson after Raiders trade

The New Orleans Saints made some big moves during the 2026 NFL Draft. New Orleans spent a first-round pick on Jordyn Tyson, adding some significant firepower to Kellen Moore’s offense. The Saints made one roster decision on Monday related to another player they acquired during the draft.

The Saints have decided to decline the fifth-year option on Tyree Wilson’s rookie contract, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. New Orleans acquired Wilson from Las Vegas in exchange for a pick swap.

It should not be a big surprise to fans that New Orleans made this decision. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis called the trade “a one-year trial and we’ll see how it goes.”
