The Los Angeles Rams shocked everyone when they selected Ty Simpson in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night. A team that was a few plays away from a Super Bowl appearance and has an MVP in Matthew Stafford, taking a QB in the first round does not make much sense at all. However, the Rams figured that Simpson would be a great replacement for Stafford in the future … whenever that may be.
After the draft, Rams head coach Sean McVay did not look like he was having a fun time asking questions about the pick for Simpson.

It was unclear what the reposter was asking exactly, but you could get a sense of it based on McVay’s answers.
Reporter: “Did you get to talk to Ty?”
McVay: “Yeah, I did.”
Reporter: “What did you speak about?”
McVay: “I will keep that between us.”
Reporter: “Do you expect Ty to back up Matt?”
McVay: “We’ll see, he is going to compete with Stetson (Bennett).”
Zero emotion from McVay at all when discussing his newest QB. Whether McVay was thrilled about the pick or disgusted by the pick, Simpson was, without a doubt, the second-best quarterback in this draft, who gained a lot of praise from Dan Orlovsky.
Fans think McVay is livid about this whole thing.
Holy shit he’s irate.

He really can’t act excited with Stafford still there. To me this is the appropriate response.
