Jets’ Kenyon Sadiq thought he was getting Shedeur Sanders-like prank call from New York

The New York Jets finished the first night of the NFL Draft with three first-round picks. After using the first pick on David Bailey, New York swung for the fences and made two more selections. After the Jets selected Kenyon Sadiq with their second pick, the star tight end believed he was getting a prank call, similar to what Shedeur Sanders thought a year ago, according to Adam Schefter.

After the Jets picked Sadiq, they solidified a spot on the offense after using their first pick on defense. Then, things took another turn. The Jets added Omar Cooper Jr. with their third first-round pick, which they acquired from the San Francisco 49ers. With these picks, New York made a statement that it is ready to emerge from rebuilding, or at least attempt to.

Sadiq had a monster final season at Oregon, catching 51 passes for 560 yards and eight touchdowns over 14 games. Overall, he averaged 11 yards per catch. Many saw him as a red-zone threat, which is something the Jets could utilize in the upcoming season. While the team does not have a star-caliber quarterback, they are starting to put the pieces together for an offense that could improve.

Along with Cooper and Garrett Wilson, Sadiq will likely compete to be the top tight end. If these three can gel, the Jets will have a formidable group of pass catchers that will be tough to stop. Sadiq now has a new home at the Meadowlands as he attempts to help the Jets end the longest playoff drought in the NFL.
