GM Brandon Beane won’t slam door on reunion with longtime Bills star

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is approaching the 2026 NFL Draft with a strategy that balances thorough preparation and the inherent unpredictability of the league. In a recent media session, Beane referenced one of the most notorious draft slides in history to illustrate how the team monitors elite talent.

He mentioned that the staff keeps a list of players they believe have less than a one percent chance of being available at their selection, unless significant controversy or a situation akin to the “gas mask incident” occurs.

Beane even joked that if fans wanted to utilize AI to create fake controversial images of top-tier talent to help them drop to Buffalo, the front office would be more than happy to draft them.

While the draft is a top priority, the potential for a veteran homecoming has emerged as a key topic in Orchard Park.

Cornerback Tre’Davious White is currently a free agent, and Beane indicated during a Monday press conference that a reunion is very much on the table, as noticed by PFT.

White spent seven seasons with the Bills before briefly leaving in 2024; however, he returned last April and started all 18 games during the regular season and playoffs.

Beane noted that both the team and the player are likely waiting to see the outcome of the draft before making any decisions, and he emphasized that the organization still values the veteran and stated they would never close the door on bringing Tre back to Buffalo.

This focus on veteran chemistry follows a rigorous interview process, where Beane and his staff thoroughly question incoming prospects about their motivations.

Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show” two months ago, the general manager explained that they ask challenging questions regarding players who transfer multiple times or whether their decisions have been primarily influenced by NIL money.

With the 26th pick, Beane is seeking the right mental and physical fit to help the Bills bounce back from their divisional round loss to Denver.
