The Miami Dolphins will look a bit different next season as they made some changes throughout the offseason. Outside of the coaching staff, the roster has already started to take shape, and they’re still looking to make additions. They recently hosted a defensive end to possibly add to their team, which was A.J. Epenesa, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
The Cleveland Brown were close to signing Epenesa in March, but they went in a different direction after he had his physical. It was a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, and though they had agreed upon it, the deal wasn’t finalized.
It’s uncertain what was wrong with Epenesa’s physical, but it must have been enough to the point where the Browns didn’t want to get involved anymore.
Epenesa played all six seasons with the Buffalo Bills and played in 91 games with 19 starts.
It’s uncertain if the Dolphins will sign him, but he could be a depth piece to add to their team as they look to restructure their roster.
There’s no doubt that there will be a different vibe around the organization, and head coach Jeff Hafley is already setting the tone. During the NFL’s Annual League Meeting, Hafley dropped some bars about what he expects from the team moving forward.
“We’re going to sit down and have that conversation, and then don’t get mad at me when it’s 110 degrees and you don’t feel like doing it anymore,” Hafley said via the team transcripts. “I’m going to make you do it because you told me when you were comfortable in this meeting room, in air conditioning, that that’s what you wanted and I’m going to remind you of that.”
It’s uncertain what this team will be capable of going into the season, but it looks like Hafley is the type to hold them accountable.
