Dante Moore, Arch Manning headline scouts’ 9-QB list atop 2027 NFL Draft class

The first round of the 2026 NFL Draft was full of excitement. Several teams had multiple first-round picks and there were some exciting picks, including the surprise selection of Ty Simpson by the Rams. The 2026 quarterback class is not very strong, but that should be the exact opposite next offseason.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel took a way-too-early look at the 2027 quarterback class just before the first round of the draft. The 2027 quarterback class is expected to be incredible with several first-round quarterbacks for NFL teams to choose from.

“After consecutive drafts in 2025 and 2026 light on high-end quarterback talent, there’s optimism in NFL front offices that the quarterback haul in 2027 projects as a once-a-decade type crop,” Thamel wrote. “The depth of quality prospects in particular stands out to scouts and executives.”

ESPN polled 10 NFL scouts and had them rank their top three quarterbacks in the 2027 class one year ahead of that draft. There are a few household names at the top of the ranking.

Arch Manning (Texas), Dante Moore (Oregon), and Julian Sayin (Ohio State) earned the top spots on ESPN’s list.

None of those names are big surprises at this point.

Everyone in the NFL is excited about Manning, who many believe would have been the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. It stands to reason that his draft stock will only continue to rise ahead of the 2027 draft.

Meanwhile, Moore was also regarded as a top 2026 quarterback before deciding to return to Oregon.

The rest of ESPN’s quarterback list includes Brendan Sorsby (Texas Tech), LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina), Drew Mestemaker (Oklahoma State), Sam Leavitt (LSU), CJ Carr (Notre Dame), and Darian mensah (Miami).
