Abdul Carter’s fiery reaction to Giants’ Arvell Reese pick

New York Giants linebacker Abdul Carter needed just one word to show how he really feels about his team’s decision to make Ohio State Buckeyes product and linebacker Arvell Reese the fifth-overall pick at the 2026 NFL Draft.

“Arvell,” Carter wrote in a social media post on X, formerly Twitter, following the Giants’ Reese selection.

Carter added a fire emoji for emphasis and to make it even clearer how much he loves that he’ll now be playing alongside Reese.

Reese joins the Giants with a winning pedigree. He won a College Football Playoff National Championship with the Buckeyes in the 2024 season. The 6-foot-4, 243-pound Reese played three seasons with the Ohio State football team. He played only six games in his freshman year but began to blossom in his sophomore campaign with the Buckeyes. In 2025, his final season in college, he collected a total of 10.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and two passes defended with 69 combined tackles through 34 games.

It will be interesting to see what kind of dynamics the Giants’ defensive line will have with Reese now part of the picture. New York has Carter and Brian Burns. The Giants also still have Kayvon Thibodeaux. They have months to figure that out before the start of the 2026 NFL season, but for now, at least Carter is happy with the pick and seems to be excited to work with the rookie Reese.

Carter, the third-overall pick at the 2025 edition of the NFL Draft, played in all 17 games in his rookie campaign in the league, accumulating four sacks with 43 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss and 23 quarterback hits.
