For a time in 2025, it looked like the Los Angeles Chargers had the inside track to the Super Bowl.
Winning seven of their first 11 games before the bye week, Jim Harbaugh’s team recorded four-straight wins after Thanksgiving in the incredibly competitive AFC West, with a shot at the first overall seed very much in play thanks to a late-season Patrick Mahomes injury that took the wheels off of the Kansas City Chiefs.
And yet, as has so often been the case for the Chargers, things fell apart late, losing their final two games of the season before being taken care of decisively by the New England Patriots on Wildcard Weekend, scoring just three points to the eventual Super Bowl runner-ups.
Asked about how last season’s collapse will influence the Chargers in 2026, defensive tackle Teair Tart let it be known that Los Angeles is hungry to get back on the field to prove how good they can be.
“I think we f*****g starving,” Tart declared.
Q to Teair Tart: “How motivated do you think this group is after how last year ended?”

With a September win over the Denver Broncos already in their pocket, if the Chargers had won out their final two games of the season, they would have secured the top seed in the AFC West, instead of a Wildcard showdown against a 14-win team. With a new crop of players locked in, headlined by Tyler Biadasz, Akheem Mesidor, and Jake Slaughter, the Chargers remain a favorite to make the playoffs in 2026 one way or another. If they can lock in and take a step forward, maybe Tart and company will be eating good well into January.
