The Jacksonville Jaguars did not follow the crowd during the 2026 NFL Draft. Jacksonville made some unpopular picks during the draft and has already received plenty of criticism in the media. The critics are out in full force as analysts begin compiling draft grades after an exciting weekend of action.
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranked every team in the league based on their performance in the draft. Brugler was not a fan of Jacksonville’s draft class, putting them at the bottom of his ranking.
Jacksonville’s first selection on Day 2, Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher, was widely viewed as a massive reach. The Jaguars continued picking players well above their consensus draft spots throughout the weekend.
But that does not mean that every pick was a bad selection.
In fact, Brugler listed guard Emmanuel Pregnon as his favorite selection of the draft for Jacksonville.
“At 6-4, 314, with 11-inch hands, Pregnon brings a physical presence to the offensive line,” Brugler wrote. “Even if he doesn’t start from day one, he will push for playing time at some point during his rookie season.”
Many analysts thought Pregnon would go off the board in the second round. But the Jaguars were able to scoop him up at the 88th overall pick.
Brugler also highlighted tight end Tanner Koziol as a potential sleeper from Jacksonville’s draft class.
“The Jaguars attacked the tight end position in different ways during the draft — Nate Boerkircher will be a physical presence, especially in the run game,” Brugler added. “But Koziol and his pass-catching talent can give Trevor Lawrence a weapon.”
Jacksonville’s draft class will be under the microscope throughout the 2026 season. Hopefully they can prove all of the doubters wrong later this fall.
