Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft is underway, and Diego Pavia has yet to be selected. With three rounds taking place on Saturday, one insider reveals the chances Pavia gets his name called in the draft.
Before the start of the fourth round, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network mentions that the former Vanderbilt Commodore could either be a late-round pick or an undrafted free agent. It basically comes down to whether or not a team wants to bring Pavia in, who has consistently told every organization he has met with that he plans on being a starting quarterback.
“It’s part of the broader picture, though, with Pavia,” said Pelissero. “Who played a ton of college football at the juco level and New Mexico State, and of course at Vanderbilt… Coaches and executives I’ve talked to, they like the competitor. Pavia knows football. Coaches have enjoyed talking X’s and O’s with him through the process…
“If you’re going to take a QB late, and Pavia is right on that border of potentially being a late-round pick, or being a priority free agent, you have to think about the dynamics, where he’s not walking in as QB1.”

Diego Pavia, who is 24 years old, brings a ton of personality and confidence to the table. The Heisman Trophy runner-up believes he can be a starting quarterback in the league, and Pelissero mentioned that his goal is to take the starting job with whichever team acquires him.
Pavia led Vanderbilt to a 10-3 record last season, which is the first time in school history the football program won double-digit games in a campaign. He ended the season with 3,539 passing yards, 862 rushing yards, and 39 total touchdowns (led the SEC with 29 passing TDs), while completing 70.6% of his pass attempts (led the SEC).
