The moment that the New York Giants picked Francis Mauigoa in the 2026 NFL Draft has rocked the sports world, and the “Final Boss” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has acknowledged the offensive lineman.
The Giants were proud to post The Rock’s comment on one of their posts about Mauigoa’s selection. He was thrilled, writing, “Cheeehoooo! Congratulations Uso, proud of you! And now the fun part – you go to work [praise hands and flexing biceps emojis].”
This is not the first time The Rock has waxed poetic about Mauigoa. When Mauigoa committed to Miami in 2022, The Rock called it “Big BIG news.” He also said, “You no doubt will make all of us – you AIGA, very proud.” Similarly, he concluded that message by saying, “Now the fun part – get to work.”
Of course, The Rock has strong emotional ties to the University of Miami; it’s his alma mater, after all. He played defensive tackle for the Hurricanes during his collegiate career.

Mauigoa was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Giants out of Miami. This was the draft pick the Giants acquired from the Cincinnati Bengals by trading Dexter Lawrence.
The selection of Mauigoa should help shore up the offensive line. This will be key heading into Jaxson Dart’s second year in the NFL. It’s unclear where he will play on the offensive line since they also have Andrew Thomas at left tackle.
However, he wasn’t the Giants’ first pick in the Draft. Seven picks earlier, the Giants selected Avrell Reese out of Ohio State. He is a linebacker and edge rusher.
In 2025, Reese had a career year. He combined for 69 tackles (34 solo, 35 assists), two pass deflections, and had 6.5 sacks. He joins an extremely talented Giants defensive line, which includes Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
