He has a history of health issues. Taylor has never been shy about talking about his addictions. Hopefully, everything goes well for Taylor amidst this scary situation.

The news of his hospitalization was somewhat surprising, given that Taylor looked good when he recently visited his alma mater, linking up with current head coach Bill Belichick.

Taylor was a dominant force for the Giants during his playing career from 1981 to 1993. He was the second-overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft out of North Carolina by the Giants.

During his career, Taylor was a one-time NFL MVP (1986) and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year (1981, 1982, and 1986). He made an immediate impact with the Giants, also being named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1981. Taylor was also a 10-time Pro Bowler, making it every year from 1981 to 1990.

By the time he ended his career, Taylor had 132.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and nine interceptions. His best season was in 1986 when he won the NFL MVP Award. He had a career-best 20.5 sacks that year.

The Giants also won two Super Bowls during Taylor’s time with the team. Phil Simms was named Super Bowl MVP in the first game, and Ottis Anderson was named Super Bowl MVP in the second game.
