Giants rumors: Insider makes Odell Beckham Jr. prediction after Round 1 of NFL Draft

The New York Giants were one of the biggest winners on the first night of the 2026 NFL Draft. New York made a pair of excellent picks in the first round, upgrading the trenches on both sides of the ball. But the Giants did neglect one important position that could end up being filled by a franchise legend.

Giants insider Art Stapleton made a bold prediction relating to Odell Beckham Jr. just after round one of the draft.

“With the events of the first round tonight and how things played out, the Giants are one day closer to bringing back Odell Beckham Jr. to add to this offense,” Stapleton wrote on Thursday night.

New York worked out Beckham on April 20th after an impressive showing at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic back in March. Beckham has not signed a contract with New York, but his workout apparently went well.

It is easy to understand Stapleton’s logic here. Many analysts expected New York to take a swing at wide receiver early in the first round. Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson was an especially popular mock draft pick to the Giants in the days leading up to the draft.

Stapleton did acknowledge the possibility of New York adding a wide receiver on Day 2 of the draft. However, he thinks other positions will be a much bigger priority for the Giants’ front office.

“Could the Giants add a WR at 37, or in a trade down? Sure. But seems like DT or CB is more likely,” Stapleton added.

It will be fascinating to see whether or not the Giants pick a receiver on Day 2 of the draft.

If New York ends the night without adding a wide receiver, the buzz around Beckham will only continue to grow.
