Boston Globe writer claims Mike Vrabel, Dianna Russini relationship was known

A Boston Globe writer is revealing shocking information amid the Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini scandal.

The New England Patriots head coach and former NFL insider made headlines earlier this month when it appeared they were on a romantic getaway in Sedona, Arizona. While neither has confirmed a romance, Ben Violin of the Boston Globe claims that, although the public might have gotten a clue about the alleged affair, it was already known information to select individuals.

“I think those of us who have worked in NFL media have known that the two have had a relationship for a long time and I think certainly these photos are coming out,” Violin shared on the Boston Globe Podcast. “How much more is going to come out now? You talked about the response, I think where they made a real error was being so defiant up front.”

So far, photos of the two have been made public via outlets like Page Six, TMZ, and The New York Post, showing the two at a casino shortly after Vrabel was fired from the Tennessee Titans in 2024, and another where they were seemingly kissing in a New York City bar.

Vrabel spoke to media after more photos of the two have surfaced and shared that he will be seeking counseling and will miss the final day of the 2026 NFL Draft.

“My previous actions don’t meet the standard that I hold myself to,” said Vrabel on Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft. “My family needs me this weekend, and that’s where I’ll be.”

While Vrabel is still with the Patriots, Russini who was an NFL insider and reporter at The Athletic has resigned from her position.
