The seat continues to get hotter for Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel as he becomes more embroiled in a scandal that has cost prominent NFL reporter Dianna Russini her job. Additional photos detailing the relationship between Vrabel and Russini were published by Page 6 and TMZ Thursday, and those photos appear to show the pair kissing and enjoying each other’s company at a bar following Vrabel’s dismissal from the Tennessee Titans in 2024.

As a result of the latest batch of photos, Vrabel is planning to speak to media members prior to the start of the NFL Draft. It is not clear whether he will answer questions about the photos and his relationship with Russini or he will just make a statement. The Patriots also made it clear that Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf would speak to reporters at the conclusion of the first round of the draft
Vrabel admitted Wednesday that he is planning to miss Day 3 of the NFL Draft while he starts counseling. The Patriots are supportive of Vrabel’s decision to address the issue through counseling.
“As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization, and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend,” Vrabel said, per Nicole Yang of the Boston Globe.
Vrabel laughed off the original photos that displayed the coach and Russini at an Arizona pool in conjunction with NFL meetings. However, he has since had “uncomfortable” conversations with his family and also offered an explanation to members of the Patriots.
Vrabel is coming off a successful season with the Patriots in which he led them to the AFC Championship. While the Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, it was clear that he had the team in a prominent position for the first time since the end of the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.
Now that position is quite uncomfortable.
