When Patriots fans can expect to hear from Mike Vrabel again amid Dianna Russini saga

The New England Patriots have dominated headlines before the 2026 NFL Draft, but for all the wrong reasons. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel’s scandal involving Dianna Russini has been a focal point in the days leading up to the draft. There’s a chance Patriots fans may have to wait a while before hearing from him again.

Vrabel is scheduled to speak to the media on Thursday night if the Patriots make a pick in the first round, per Patriots reporter Mark Daniels.

If the Patriots trade out of the first round, Patriots executive Eliot Wolf is scheduled to speak to the media on Friday. Wolf would also speak on Saturday with Ryan Cowden.

Vrabel’s next scheduled media availability is May 27th after the draft. So there is a possibility that Patriots fans might not hear from their head coach again until late May. But that requires New England to trade out of the first round.

Wolf’s recent comments on Patriots All-Access could have laid the groundwork for why New England might trade down.

“Maybe the 2nd half of this year’s 1st round is going to be a little bit more surprises than some previous years … pretty heavy up at the top, then maybe from, call it 25 to 50, is sort of the same level of player,” Wolf said on Wednesday, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

If Wolf’s assessment of the draft class is accurate, then it could make sense for New England to trade down. Especially if a team like Arizona wants to move up for QB Ty Simpson.

It would be awfully convenient for Vrabel, too.

This is yet another compelling storyline for Patriots fans to follow on draft night.
