Ravens make $27 million Zay Flowers contract decision

The Baltimore Ravens are getting prepared for the NFL Draft, where they’ll be looking to add depth to their team on both sides of the ball. Before that, they made a move to keep one of their key players for the foreseeable future, as Zay Flowers had his option picked up, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

“Sources: The Ravens are picking up the 5th year option on WR Zay Flowers. He will earn $28M in 2027 since he has made two Pro Bowls,” Schultz wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

This should come as no surprise, as Flowers has been the best receiver on the field for the Ravens since he’s been with the team. Though $28 million seems like a lot, keeping him in the fold was important, and there’s still a chance that he could get an extension. It will be interesting to see how much Flowers could sign for, especially when looking at the wide receiver market.

Flowers has let it be known that he wants to stay with the Ravens as well.

It’s been a solid career for Flowers, as he has 237 catches for 3,128 yards and 16 touchdowns in 50 regular-season games. He also became the first receiver to be drafted by the Ravens to make the Pro Bowl. He’s fifth in team history in receiving yards and receptions.

Wide receiver has been one area where the Ravens haven’t had much depth throughout the years, but Flowers is the one constant for the offense. With the draft coming up, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Ravens draft another receiver, and they could also look at a tight end, with Isaiah Likely departing in free agency.

Staying healthy was one of the issues for the Ravens last season, which is a big reason why they missed the playoffs. The hope is that this draft brings them the depth that they need moving forward.
