Jeremiyah Love pitches himself as Commanders’ Jayden Daniels backfield partner

The 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh is finally here, and one of the most intriguing storylines of the first round is the potential landing spot for Notre Dame standout Jeremiyah Love, and the Commanders is one of them.

After a dominant collegiate season in which he earned Unanimous All-American honors, Love has established himself as a likely top-ten pick.

He has frequently been linked to the Arizona Cardinals at pick No. 3 and the Tennessee Titans at pick No. 4.

However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter has noted that the Washington Commanders at pick No. 7 are the absolute furthest Love could slide, though he believes the running back will likely be drafted much earlier.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has already hinted at an interest in Love, seeing him as a potential catalyst to enhance the team’s offensive production.

As speculation continues, Love has started to envision his future in the nation’s capital alongside Washington’s young franchise quarterback.

In an interview with NBC4, Love pitched the idea of becoming a backfield partner for Jayden Daniels.

He expressed his enthusiasm for this potential pairing, stating, “I’d be blessed to go there… I feel like me and Jayden Daniels would be a very good duo.”

Love emphasized that his presence would directly benefit Daniels’ development by “taking some load off of him,” allowing the quarterback to become a more effective version of himself.

This selfless approach highlights Love’s understanding of how his versatile skill set could stabilize the Commanders’ offensive infrastructure and provide a reliable safety valve for their star passer.

While the connection to Washington is strong, Love is aware of the significant buzz surrounding other franchises.

In a conversation with NFL.com’s Jeremy Bergman, the Notre Dame product mentioned that, though he is unsure where he will land, he has been consistently hearing talk regarding the Titans, Cardinals, and Giants.

Regardless of which team ultimately selects him, Love remains confident in his ability to improve any roster. He expressed a readiness to embrace whatever role is necessary for success at the next level.
