Jerry Jones’ Cowboys press conference interrupted by Bill Clinton cameo

The Dallas Cowboys are currently in the process of making their final preparations for the upcoming NFL Draft, which is slated to get underway on Thursday with the first round. The Cowboys are hoping to add some premium talent to a defense that was among the worst units in the NFL this past year.

On Wednesday, Jerry Jones, as he’s been known to do, gave a press conference, and at one point, he received a special visitor in the form of former United States President Bill Clinton, in a scene described by Jeff Darlington of ESPN.

“Jerry interrupts, points toward the front door of The Star and says, “The President is here to say hello.” Five seconds later, Bill Clinton walks in. Jerry trips getting up to greet him, then they spoke, and The Star is a very surreal place,” reported Darlington on X, formerly Twitter.

Jones is no stranger to high profile guests both at the practice facility and at games, as has become part of his branding strategy during his tenure as the team’s owner.

Meanwhile, Darlington later reported on a significant update involving the contract status of wide receiver George Pickens, who enjoyed the best season of his NFL career last year with the Cowboys.

“Cowboys’ presser takes a somewhat newsy turn as Stephen Jones says they do not plan to negotiate a long-term contract with George Pickens this offseason — and they plan to have him play on the tag. Leverage strategy? Perhaps. But significant,” he reported.

Cowboys fans are certainly hoping for a strong prospect to join the team in the draft, which is slated to get underway on Thursday evening in Pittsburgh.

The Cowboys will have the number 20 overall pick.
