Puma Pro16 Detroit: Top Underclassmen

The shoe circuit is officially upon us. With all of the respective sneaker brands getting ready to get things jumping, it was Puma that took the lead by bringing all of its programs under one roof in Detroit for the Pro16 League.

Held at Huntington Place in the heart of downtown Detroit, the Pro16 League packed over 25 courts under one roof to create an outstanding weekend of basketball for fans, players, and scouts alike. The marquee court had all games streamed with commentary on YouTube, rosters were available for all onlookers via their app, and marquee talent showcased their skills while donning the brand that Walt “Clyde” Frazier made famous.

After taking in portions of well over 50 games throughout the weekend, there was no shortage of prospects who caught our eye.  I focused primarily on the 17U division, so there may have been a few underclassmen playing in the younger divisions that I was unable to lay eyes on.  Having already profiled 6-foot-8 five-star Evan Willis in the top performers article, here are six more underclassmen who left an impression from Puma’s Pro16 stop in Detroit:

Bamba Touray, 7’0, C, Tre Mann Elite 16U, 2028

The consensus top 10 rising junior showed the tantalizing skill set that has put him in the conversation for best big man in the class. The fluid 7-footer showed off an intriguing stroke out to the 3-point line, made plays above the rim on both ends, and showed the agility to get out and defend on the perimeter. Blending inside/outside play, Bamba Touray has firmly put himself right there as one of the Mount Rushmore of 2028 prospects at this point.

Omari Chaudhry, PG, 444 Athletics 17U, 2028

Now a member of the class of 2028, Omari Chaudhry was the most polished underclassman guard that we saw in Detroit. The lead guard plays at his own pace, is great in pick-and-roll play, and has a full bag of creative finishes at the rack. A top 100 player in the class of 2027, Chaudhry should undoubtedly be in four-star status with the move to 2028.

Dylan McGhee, 6’8, SF/PF, Team Inland 17U, 2028

Having only seen him once with DNA Prep on The Grind Session, we were able to take a more comprehensive look at Dylan McGhee during the Puma Pro16. The lanky forward brought considerable presence on the defensive end, drilled 3-pointers from the corners, and brought toughness despite his slender frame. Still under the radar, expect Dylan McGhee to be a household name on the West Coast as he continues to emerge this spring.

Jalil Hill, 6’9, PF/C, 1 Family 17U, 2029

Playing up two years for 1 Family, it’s easy to see why Jalil Hill has all of the potential to be the next big man up out of 1 Family. The young big man was outstanding as a finisher in transition, kept a ton of plays alive on the offensive glass, and showed raw talent facing up scoring the ball. Following in the footsteps of Asa Newell with 1 Family, Hill should undoubtedly be a top 100 player once the initial 2029 national rankings drop.

Kyle Delves, 6’3, PG, Team New England 17U, 2028

One of my favorite lead guards in the event, Kyle Delves, held it down for New England playing up at the 17U level.  The gritty lead guard is a high-level passer, can finish with creativity in the lane, and plays the game with a poise that you don’t see out of most young lead guards.  A well-known prospect in New England, Delves should find himself a familiar name in national recruiting circles if he continues playing at this level in Pro16.

Jermaine Agyeman, 6’10, C, Team Miami 17U, 2028

In my first time seeing Jermaine Agyeman, it was easy to see what all of the buzz is about from the second you lay eyes on him.  The big man was outstanding running the floor, converted at the rim in traffic, and offered consistent production that you rarely see out of a young big man.  Jumping into the top 100 of the class of 2028 nationally, Jermaine is a player worth tracking in the Pro16 circuit if you’re looking for a developing big man at the high major level.
