1 position Packers will 100% be adding in 2026 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers will just have to sit back on watch on the first night of the 2026 NFL Draft. Green Bay does not have a first-round pick after acquiring Micah Parsons before the 2025 regular season. But that is not going to stop the Packers from bringing in players at huge positions of need during the draft.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst explained that the team will be investing in the cornerback position during the draft.

“We’re going to add numbers there,” Gutekunst said on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Green Bay only has six outside corners on their 90-man roster heading into the draft. That includes Kamal Hadden, who is working his way back from a significant ankle injury according to Packers writer Weston Hodkiewicz. It also includes Bo Melton, who started his professional career as a wide receiver.

Carrington Valentine and Keisean Nixon are Green Bay’s projected starters with Benjamin St-Juste and Shemar Bartholomew in reserve.

The Packers have to wait until the 52nd overall pick to make their first move. That may not leave Green Bay with many options at cornerback, with prospects like D’Angel Ponds (Indiana) some of the only prospects projected to be available in that range.

Ultimately, Gutekunst only promised that he would add numbers at the position. He did not say Green Bay would target starting-caliber cornerbacks.

The Packers could easily reinforce their depth during the later rounds of the draft. Especially if the alternative is giving up additional picks to trade up for a potential starter.

It will be fascinating to see how the Packers approach the draft this weekend.
