The Cincinnati Bengals had a big addition to their team during the weekend, acquiring Dexter Lawrence from the New York Giants in exchange for the No. 10 pick in this year’s draft. Lawrence had been on the trade block for the past week after he and the Giants couldn’t come together on an extension, and the Bengals were the team that swept in and traded for him.
With the loss of Trey Hendrickson in free agency, the Bengals needed to add somebody who could create pressure on the defensive line, and they believed the value Lawrence brings would be more than what they potentially selected in the draft.
Many people in the organization are excited about the addition, including his teammates. Offensive tackle Amarius Mims shared his first impression of Lawrenece, and it’s safe to say he’s excited they’re on the same team.
“I met him last night,” Mims said via Caleb Noe of WCPO. “We went to dinner last night, and I just shook his hand. I’m a big dude, so I shake his hand, and I went backwards. And he stood there. I was like ‘Oh, man. Alright.’

“I’m happy he’s here. I’m glad we’re teammates. I feel bad for the opposing offensive line more than us. We have to practice against him, so he can do some damage there. But I’d rather much be his teammate than go against him. Like I said, I’m happy he’s here, and we’re all excited about trying to get better everyday…”
There’s no doubt that Lawrence will be key for the Bengals this season, and they already have a team that is ready to compete. Injuries are the one thing that has held them back in years past, and the hope is that they stay healthy this time around to see some positive results.
