The freaky QB in 2026 NFL Draft drawing Colin Kaepernick comparisons

The 2026 NFL Draft is less than a a week away. NFL teams will converge on Pittsburgh on Thursday for the first round of the draft. One sleeper quarterback prospect received some glowing reviews from NFL evaluators ahead of the draft.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared what league evaluators think of this year’s quarterback class in a recent article. Pelissero revealed that Arkansas QB Taylen Green has received multiple pro comparisons to Colin Kaepernick.

“Several coaches compared Green to a young Colin Kaepernick, who quickly developed into a star playing in an RPO-heavy scheme under Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman in San Francisco with his ability to run, avoid rushers and take shots downfield when coverage broke down,” Pelissero wrote.

Just like Kaepernick, Green might need an ideal situation around him if he’s going to succeed in the NFL. As such, league evaluators believe he is a big projection as a prospect.

“Taylen Green feels like a really big projection to me. He needs a lot of time,” one AFC executive said, per Pelissero. “But he’s a very unique talent – Kaepernick-ish, kind of. But it’s going to take the right head coach, the right play-caller, the right vision.”

Green is also locked in on playing quarterback at the professional level. He told Robert Griffin III on a recent podcast appearance that he has no interest in a position change if he doesn’t make it as a quarterback.

All of this makes Green one of the most interesting evaluations in this year’s quarterback class.

It will be fascinating to see if Green gets drafted later this week.
