The Kansas City Chiefs should be an exciting team to watch during the 2026 NFL Draft. Kansas City enters the draft with nine total selections, including two first-rounders and three picks in the top 40. There’s one position that everyone around the NFL expects the Chiefs to address in the early rounds.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes that the Chiefs will address the cornerback position early in the draft.
“The Chiefs have three top-40 picks (Nos. 9, 29 and 40), and many expect at least one of those to be used on a cornerback,” Schefter wrote. “Kansas City traded Trent McDuffie to the Rams, lost Jaylen Watson to the same team in free agency and is now left with its projected starting cornerbacks as Kristian Fulton and second-year player Nohl Williams.”
The Chiefs are fortunate to have gotten such a good return back for McDuffie. That should make it easier to rebuild their cornerback room in the draft.
Kansas City’s coaching staff is already high on Williams as a player. But even if he’s in for a breakout season, the Chiefs still need to add more players at cornerback.
“At last month’s owners meetings, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised the play of Williams, who played 44% of the snaps last season; the team believes in him,” Schefter added. “But the Chiefs also have holes at the position that are expected to be addressed this week.”
The Chiefs could grab almost any cornerback prospect in this year’s class. Kansas City should be in position to grab Mansoor Delane (LSU) at ninth overall. They could also wait and see if other players are available at 29th overall or 40th overall.
Either way, Kansas City feels destined to go cornerback with one of their first three picks.
