Zverev, Musetti Return to Action on Monday at Shanghai Masters; Wuhan Open Begins
Monday’s Preview in Shanghai and Wuhan
Monday’s action at the Rolex Shanghai Masters in China will feature No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev back in action, taking on Arthur Rinderknech from France.
Injuring his big toe in his opening round match against Valentin Royer, Zverev will be eager to see if his fitness level will be ready to take on his French opponent.
Owning one title on the season, Zverev is currently 48-20 in 2025.
Other matches that will take place on Monday will include: No. 7 seed Alex de Minuar, No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti, No. 12 seed Felix Auger Aliassime, and No. 16 seed Daniil Medvedev.
On Sunday, No. 4 seed Novak Djokovic, No. 10 seed Holger Rune, No. 31 seed Gabriel Diallo, Zizou Bergs, Jaume Munar and No. 32 seed Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard were all victorious.
Mpetshi Perricard defeated No. 5 seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 7-5 in one hour and 25 minutes. Mpetshi Perricard hit 12 aces and won 80 percent of his first serve points. He will next face Rune in the round of 16 on Tuesday.
Anisimova Wins China Open
Red-hot American Amanda Anisimova recorded her second Masters 1000 victory of the season on Sunday in Beijing, China, defeating Linda Noskova from Czech Republic 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.
Reaching the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open, Anisimova has firmly placed herself as the No. 4 player in the world. The 24-year-old also notched her fourth career title.
Noskova, who will also hit a new career high ranking of No. 17 in the world on Monday, was looking to win her second career title.
Wuhan Open Begins on Monday
With no rest for the weary, another Masters 1000 event is set to begin on Monday in Wuhan, China.
Top seed and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is back in action, and will play her first match since winning the US Open later this week.
Monday’s action in Wuhan will feature No. 9 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, No. 10 seed Clara Tauson, and No. 12 seed Karolina Muchova.
