Winston-Salem Finals Preview: Van de Zandschulp vs. Fucsovics

Saturday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results and Previews

Saturday’s ATP Tour 250 final at the Winston-Salem Open in North Carolina will feature Botic van de Zandschulp from the Netherlands taking on Marton Fucsovics from Hungry.

On Friday, van de Zandschulp withstood seven aces from hard-serving Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard to advance to the finals by a scoreline of 6-4, 7-5.

Van de Zandschulp, who has made two ATP Tour finals in Munich, Germany, will be hopeful that he can capture his maiden ATP Tour title on Saturday in North Carolina.

Ranked as high as No. 22 in the world in August of 2022, the Dutchman will face Fucsovics for the title.

Currently ranked No. 94 in the world, Fucsovics advanced to the finals when No. 11 seed Sebastian Korda withdrew due to illness.

Fucsovics will be aiming to win his third career title on Saturday in Winston-Salem. He previously captured titles in Bucharest, Romania in 2024 and Geneva, Switzerland in 2018. He also made the finals in Rotterdam, Netherlands in 2021 and Sofia, Bulgaria in 2019.

Van de Zandschulp leads Fucsovics 2-1 in career head-to-head meetings.

Tennis in the Land—Cleveland, Ohio

Saturday’s final at the 250 WTA event in Cleveland, Ohio will feature Sorana Cirstea from Romania taking on Ann Li from the United States.

Cirstea dismissed Anastasia Zakharova from Russia 6-1, 7-5 on Saturday, and Li took out No. 2 seed Wang Xinyu 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.

Li leads Cirstea 1-0 in career head-to-head meetings.

Cirstea will be aiming to win her third career title, and Li will be vying for her second career crown.

Abierto GNP Seguros—Monterrey, Mexico

The WTA 500 level event in Monterrey, Mexico will feature Diana Shnaider from Russia going up against either No. 2 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova or Marie Bouzkova from the Czech Republic.

Shnaider withstood 13 aces from American Alycia Parks on Saturday to prevail to the finals 6-3, 7-6(8).

Alexandrova and Bouzkova had their match suspended due to rain on Friday. The semifinal match was tied at 2-all.

Shnaider will be attempting to win the fifth title of her career this evening.
