It was a massive game between the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators on Monday night, with both teams holding onto playoff hopes. The Sharks would take the 3-2 victory, but due to a victory by the Los Angeles Kings, both teams ended the night eliminated from playoff contention. While the Sharks fell short this year, a new star was born in the Bay Area: Macklin Celebrini.
After the game, Sharks fans were also talking about another Bay Area star, George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers. Kittle was rocking a Predators jersey to the game in Nashville, not a Sharks one.

Now, Kittle is explaining why he was donning the Preds jersey to the game.
“I’m the godfather to Forsberg’s son.. yall gonna be alright,” Kittle responded to the post from the Sharks on NBC Sports account on X, formerly Twitter.
George Kittle has a long-standing relationship with Filip Forsberg, a winger for the Predators. It stems from a connection between Claire Kittle, George Kittle’s wife, and Erin Alvey, the wife of Forsberg. The two have been long-time best friends, which led to the relationship between the two professional athletes.
This is also not the first time Kittle has worn the jersey of his friend. Kittle was in attendance for the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025, wearing a Team Sweden jersey with Forsberg’s name and number nine. He has also been in attendance for Stanley Cup Playoff games in Nashville for his friend. The relationship is not a one-way street, though.
The day of the wild card game between the 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, Forsberg arrived at Bridgestone Arena for a game against the Washington Capitals, wearing a George Kittle-branded jacket and a 49ers hat.
While Sharks fans may hope Kittle would root for the local team, the friendship comes first for the star tight end. Still, the fans have plenty of reason to cheer. The Sharks are 35-34-8 on the season, which will be their best finish since 2018-19. They will finish the regular season on Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
