Why Bruce Feldman thinks Buccaneers got steal of 2026 NFL Draft

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made some great moves during the 2026 NFL Draft. Tampa was shocked to land Rueben Bain Jr. in the first round. They followed that up by getting great value at a few other points throughout the draft. The Buccaneers are now receiving plenty of praise from national analysts after their strong performance in the draft.

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman believes that Tampa had one of the better draft hauls this year. He explained that the Buccaneers got great value at a few different spots in the draft.

Feldman even called third-round pick Ted Hurst the “steal of this class.”

“The Bucs also had one of the better drafts. First-round edge Rueben Bain was arguably the most dominant defensive player in college football last year,” Feldman wrote. “He fell to the middle of the first round because his arms are an inch shorter than most teams are comfortable with at that position. Missouri LB Josiah Trotter in the second round should pile up tackles for Tampa. Third-rounder Ted Hurst from Georgia State is the steal of this class for a team that needs a young playmaker outside.”

Feldman is not the only one who thinks that Hurst has a bright future in the NFL.

“I love Ted Hurst,” an NFL receiver coach told Feldman. “I would say he’s the biggest sleeper in the draft, but he blew up like a month ago.”

The Buccaneers could use another tall, athletic wide receiver to help replace Mike Evans. Hurst certainly fits the fill at 6-foot-3, 206 pounds with 4.42 speed. If he can adjust to playing against NFL competition, he could become a starter sooner rather than later.

It will be exciting to track Hurst’s progress throughout the summer during training camp and the preseason.
