Ahead of each grand prix, the MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group (MSEG) sends out a document with notable statistics. But as it is 39 years since MotoGP was last at Goiânia, there are few statistics which are relevant, so they sent out a list of winners at each new circuit added to the MotoGP calendar (or in the case of Misano and Silverstone, the return after a very long absence).
That is certainly interesting, but not as informative as knowing the full podium at each new circuit. So I added in the other podium finishers, as well as the full podium for the sprint races for India and Hungary. Of course, the further back in time you go, the less relevant to this weekend the results are.
What did we learn? Well, that Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi are pretty strong at new circuits, with two wins and a podium for Marquez, and a win and a podium for Bezzecchi. The Ducatis do well, as you might expect, with 11 podium places and 4 wins going back to Buriram at 2018. And KTM, especially in the hands of Miguel Oliveira, is strong at new circuits, with two wins at Mandalika and Portimão and Pedro Acosta’s podium in Hungary last year.
