Welcome to the Shaw: Raveling Memorial Classic Recap

For NBA All-Star Weekend, Nike did everything in its power to take over the city of Los Angeles. The NBA’s official apparel sponsor held events throughout the City of Angels, including exclusive sneaker drops at select locations, appearances with Nike athletes, and EYBL Scholastic basketball games.

One of their destinations was Crenshaw High School, where their ‘Welcome to the Shaw’ event was unlike anything we’ve seen for All-Star Weekend.

Held in the heart of South Central Los Angeles, the swoosh completely took over the campus of Crenshaw High School and turned it into a Nike hub. There were countless pop-ups, exclusive sneaker drops at the school’s SNKRS Cafeteria, and a free star-studded concert with the likes of G Herbo, Wale, and Ty Dolla Sign.

There was also legitimate basketball, with two Ballislife FAB 50 matchups: Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) vs. CIA Bella Vista (Phoenix, Ariz.), followed by Oak Cliff Faith Family (Dallas, Tex.) vs. top-ranked AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, Ariz.). These games were held at the basketball portion of the Raveling Memorial Classic.

Ultimately, it was the two FAB 50 top-five programs (Link Academy and AZ Compass) who walked away the victors, but there was no shortage of elite talent who put on a show at the sold-out event.

Here are the top performers from the EYBL Scholastic’s “Raveling Memorial Classic” event:

Davion Thompson, 6’3, PG/SG, Link Academy (Mo.), 2027

Playing both backcourt spots for Link Academy coach Chad Myers, Davion Thompson showed his versatility, playing several roles during his MVP performance at the Raveling Memorial Classic.  He was outstanding coming off screens (especially going left), made quick scoring decisions with the ball in his hands, and had absolutely effortless range when it came to shooting the ball.

The 23 points, three assists, and four steals came within the flow of the game and helped Link bolster its case as one of the top teams in the nation.

Miles Sadler, 5’10, PG, CIA Bella Vista (Ariz.), 2026

The biggest snub from the McDonald’s All-American Game, Miles Sadler certainly came out with a chip on his shoulder and showed why he’s one of the most elite guards in the class of 2026. He controlled the game with his outstanding change of pace, deep shooting range, and ability to find open teammates in the pick-and-roll.

West Virginia’s top recruit continues to have one of the top senior campaigns of any player in the nation, showing why he should have a spot in every all-star game the nation has to offer.

Kaden House, 6’3, PG/SG, AZ Compass Prep (Ariz.), 2026

One of the best pure scorers in the nation, Kaden House, showed his elite shot-making ability during AZ Compass Prep’s OT win against Faith Family in LA. The combo guard was truly special in creating separation off the bounce, made high-level shots with limited space, and was a deadly scorer in isolation situations.  Heading to Maryland next year, House should make an immediate impact in the Big Ten with his ability to put points on the board in a hurry.

DeMarcus Henry, 6’7, SF, AZ Compass Prep (Ariz.), 2027

As far as long-term upside is concerned, there aren’t many in the class of 2027 who offer more than DeMarcus Henry, and he reminded everyone at Crenshaw of this during EYBL Scholastic play.  The lefty swingman is a high-level shot maker, showed the ability to facilitate for others, and was much more engaged on defense.

The 14 points, nine rebounds, four blocks, and four assists tell you the type of two-way player that Henry has the potential of bringing to the hardwood every time he steps on the floor.

Josiah Rose, 6’4, SG, Oak Cliff Faith Family (Tex.), 2028

Having established himself as one of the best two-way guards in the sophomore class, Josiah Rose keeps taking his game to new levels. The lefty combo guard knocked down open shots, changed the game with his athleticism, and showed growth with the ball in his hands as a playmaker.

Recording 24 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks against top-ranked AZ Compass Prep, the consensus four-star recruit’s numbers stood out.

Trent Perry, 6’5, SG/SF, Link Academy (Mo.), 2026

While he didn’t put up significant numbers, Trent Perry showed the two-way potential that made Kansas lock him up early in the recruiting process. The powerfully built wing put immense pressure on the ball, defended multiple positions, and made plays above the rim on both ends.

Heading to Lawrence, Perry’s growth as a shooter is ultimately the biggest question surrounding his game and will depict how far the Dallas product takes his game.
