During a recent Savannah Bananas game, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson turned back the clock on his baseball career, participating in the matchup.
Wilson entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, and while he made contact with the ball on his swing, the bat broke as he began running. The bouncer to first base resulted in a trick play.

After the game, Wilson took to X, formerly Twitter, to react to the viral moment. He had a lot of fun with his fans and kids, and he praised the co-owner of the Bananas, Jesse Cole.
“Fun Times with the Fans! My kids loved the day! Thanks Jesse Cole for the Call! I remember you were my GM when I was 19 years old! Proud of the movement you’ve built!”
Before he was a 10-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion, Wilson was drafted to the MLB. The Baltimore Orioles selected Wilson out of high school in the 41st round of the 2007 MLB Draft.
However, he instead chose to go to NC State and play baseball and football for the Wolfpack. He was once again selected in the 2010 MLB Draft, this time by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round.
Wilson would make a name for himself playing football, but he also played some professional baseball. He even played in a Yankees Spring Training game against the Atlanta Braves in 2018.
Currently, Wilson is a free agent. He spent the 2025 season with the New York Giants, starting three games before being benched in favor of Jaxson Dart in Week 4. He wouldn’t start another game for the rest of the year.
