I head to San Antonio on Friday to catch the University Interscholastic League (UIL) state title games. I begin my coverage by highlighting the prospects in each title game. In this report, I run down the players in the Class 6A D1 title game between San Antonio Brennan (33-3) and FAB 50 No. 25 North Crowley (34-3).
San Antonio Brennan Breakdown
Talon Todd – Offensive Catalyst
Senior guard Talon Todd, who is committed to Austin Peay, has been a major offensive catalyst for Brennan throughout the season. Todd is a skilled scoring guard who brings versatility and confidence to the Bears’ backcourt.
Todd’s offensive game stands out because of his ability to score at multiple levels. He can stretch defenses with his perimeter shooting while also creating his own shot off the dribble. When defenses close out aggressively, Todd has the ability to attack the lane and finish or create opportunities for teammates.
Beyond scoring, Todd brings poise and experience in big moments. His shot-making ability and willingness to take responsibility late in games have been key factors in Brennan’s postseason success.
Brennan downs Atascocita 63-61 and will play for a Class 6A-DI state title in their home city on Saturday at 5pm against Duncanville/North Crowley.

Donovan Criss – Size and Shooting on the Perimeter
UTEP signee Donovan Criss provides Brennan with valuable positional size and perimeter shooting. His length and frame allow him to match up well defensively against multiple perimeter positions, giving Brennan added versatility at the guard spot.
Offensively, Criss’ biggest asset is his ability to space the floor, knock down perimeter shots and self-create. His shooting forces defenses to respect him beyond the arc, which helps open driving lanes for teammates and keeps the offense balanced.
Delano Tarpley – Interior Presence
Senior center Delano Tarpley, another signee with the UTEP Miners, gives Brennan a major presence in the paint. Standing around 6’10, Tarpley provides the size and physicality that anchors Brennan’s interior on both ends of the floor.
Tarpley’s impact starts with his ability to control space around the basket. He rebounds well, does a solid job protecting the rim, and gives Brennan a formidable interior presence on both ends. He has the skill to operate on the block and generate his own bucket, using his size and touch to score over defenders.

Isaiah Ward – The X-Factor
Available wing Isaiah Ward may be Brennan’s true X-factor. At 6’5, Ward provides positional size and versatility while serving as a strong connecting piece throughout Brennan’s lineup.
Ward impacts winning in a variety of ways that may not always show up in the box score. His ability to defend multiple positions, rebound from the wing, and make the right play offensively allows Brennan’s system to function smoothly.
Sean Mondragon – Energy and Confidence
Another available senior, guard Sean Mondragon brings a spark to Brennan’s lineup with his energy and competitive edge. Mondragon plays with confidence when the ball is in his hands and provides an additional ball-handling presence in the backcourt.
His ability to push the pace, attack the defense, and make plays adds another dimension to Brennan’s offense. On the defensive end, Mondragon’s effort and activity help set the tone, as he consistently brings energy that can shift momentum during games.
North Crowley Breakdown
Isaak Hayes – Offensive Engine
Point guard Isaak Hayes, a 2027 prospect, has been a key cog in North Crowley’s offensive engine. Hayes has done an excellent job running the show for the Panthers, controlling the offense and consistently putting teammates in position to score.
Hayes plays with poise and a strong feel for the game. His ability to handle the ball under pressure, make quick decisions, and create opportunities for others has been crucial to North Crowley’s success this season. One of Hayes’ biggest offensive weapons is his deep shooting range, as he is capable of knocking down shots well beyond the 3-point line. That range forces defenses to extend and opens driving lanes for both himself and his teammates. Whether it’s initiating the offense, breaking down defenses off the dribble, or stretching the floor with his perimeter shooting, Hayes provides the stability and leadership needed at the point guard position.
Breakout Year – Senior Tre Hall
Tre Hall has emerged as one of the more intriguing available seniors, putting together a breakout final high school season. Standing around 6’7, Hall brings a combination of size, versatility, and production that makes him a valuable late addition for programs still looking to strengthen their recruiting class.
Hall’s offensive game has taken a noticeable step forward this season. One of his biggest strengths is his ability to make shots from the perimeter, which forces defenses to respect him on the outside and opens up driving opportunities.
At his size, Hall creates matchup problems for defenders because he can stretch the floor while still having the ability to attack the basket.
Hall is also a good vertical athlete who can finish above the rim when opportunities present themselves. His athleticism shows up most when he’s attacking the basket or playing in transition.
He has also become more comfortable finishing through contact, which has helped him convert more scoring opportunities around the rim.
Jonathan Fox – The X Factor
Fox has emerged as a key X-factor for North Crowley during their state run. The 6’4 southpaw guard/wing brings a combination of athleticism, scoring ability, and versatility that makes him a difficult matchup on the perimeter. An explosive athlete who plays well above the rim. His ability to elevate in traffic and finish strong makes him a constant threat when attacking the basket. Whether it’s in transition, off the bounce, or receiving lobs, Fox’s athleticism allows him to create momentum-shifting plays.
Jonathan’s athleticism, energy and perimeter shooting make him an important piece in North Crowley’s lineup. When Fox is aggressive and attacking, he can swing momentum quickly and provide the Panthers with the extra scoring punch needed in big games.
