Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against the Yokohama Marinos in Japan is set to go ahead, despite tsunami warnings being issued in the nation.

The world’s biggest earthquake in 14 years has sparked tsunami warnings across the Pacific and sent waves crashing into Russia and Japan.

The quake reached a magnitude of 8.8 – which makes it the sixth strongest earthquake ever measured.

It struck about 84 miles east-southeast of Kamchatska, off the coast of Russia, about 7.24pm EST.

Liverpool’s latest pre-season friendly, they final match of their tour, is still scheduled to take place.

Arne Slot’s side will play the Yokohama Marinos at the Nissan Stadium, with the match due to kick-off at 11.30am UK time.
