Is it really surprising that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers loves Nickelback? One of the Steelers’ veteran players, Cam Heyward, revealed the quarterback’s fandom recently.
ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reports that Heyward was asked what he’s learned about Rodgers since the four-time NFL MVP joined the team.
“Well, he’s the oldest quarterback in the league,” Heyward began. “Big Nickelback fan.”

Before Rodgers officially signed with the Steelers, Heyward had made comments about him. Rodgers took a while to decide where he would sign — if anywhere — in free agency.
This did not sit well with Heyward. He was over Rodgers’ antics, saying, “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t, that’s simple, that’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers, if you want to be part of it, so be it; if you don’t, no skin off my back.”
However, he later apologized, claiming his “words were taken out of context.” He asked Rodgers how he felt about it on his Not Just Football podcast, and Rodgers conceded that it “hurt.”
“I was hurt; yeah, I was hurt,” Rodgers admitted. “You didn’t reach out, and you just wanted to make a statement in the media. You had preconceived notions of who I was, obviously. How has that changed over the past few months?”
Luckily, the two have seemingly made up. Heyward recounted several instances of them hanging out since the comments were made.
“It’s been good,” Heyward said of his perception of Rodgers changing. “You came to my cookout; you came to my golf outing, I appreciate that,” Heyward said. “I will say it all stems from last year. We go up to the coin toss, and I’m saying hi and everything. He’s like, ‘How old are you?’ I’m like this f—-er right here just asked me how old I am like he’s a f*****g spring chicken.”
Currently, the Steelers are 5-3 and coming off a win against the Indianapolis Colts. They are in first place in the AFC North heading into their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Rodgers is currently tied for third place in the NFL in passing touchdowns (17). He has 1,692 passing yards and has only been intercepted five times.
