Seahawks’ Cooper Kupp drops a brutally honest NFL preseason admission

The Seahawks will play against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, August 23, in what will be their final preseason game. Leading up to the contest, wide receiver Cooper Kupp opened up about his experience with the preseason and shared his brutally honest opinion about it.

Kupp, who is 32 years old, admits that he notices the competition level in the preseason isn’t the same as the regular season, according to Gregg Ball of The News Tribune. Cooper Kupp explains what he meant by that while talking with media members. Ball also reports that the Seahawks’ wideout prefers the joint practices over playing in preseason games as well.

“The competitiveness is just different,” said Cooper Kupp. “I don’t want to say it’s more or less than what you’re doing each and every day on the week. We come out here every day with a very competitive mindset with how we handle our business. But it’s just a different body across the line of scrimmage from you. It’s good to have those opportunities, see some different things, try some stuff out against some different looks.”

9th-yr vet WR Cooper Kupp says Friday night vs KC was only the 2nd or 3rd preseason game he’s played in the NFL.

He’s a much bigger fan of the joint practice the #Seahawks will have Thursday in Green Bay.

Kupp hasn’t really played in all that many preseason games throughout his career. The Seahawks’ preseason matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs was only the third time he’s participated in a preseason contest. However, he’s been a starter throughout the majority of his career, and the preseason is typically a bigger moment for players fighting for a roster spot.

Cooper Kupp is entering the ninth season of his career, but this will be the first he’ll play for Seattle. The Los Angeles Rams traded him to the Seahawks this offseason, and he’s set to be the new No. 1 pass option for quarterback Sam Darnold.

Kupp ended his final season with the Rams, recording 67 receptions, 710 receiving yards, and six touchdown grabs through 12 games played. It was the third consecutive season where he missed at least five games due to injury.
