Rybakina Defeats Swiatek at the WTA Finals
Monday’s action at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia saw No. 6 seed and former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina improved to 2-0 in the Group Stage of the competition, defeating No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
Needing one hour and 37 minutes to prevail, Rybakina picked up her second win at the event after defeating Amanda Anisimova on Saturday.
Swiatek fell to 1-1 in the Group Stage after she took out Madison Keys on Saturday.
Other matches on the day will see No. 4 seed Anisimova taking on Keys in the second match of the day.
On Tuesday, No. 3 seed Coco Gauff will face No. 8 seed Jasmine Paolini and top seed Aryna Sabalenka will take on No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula.
On Sunday, Sabalenka defeated Paolini in straight sets and Pegula took out Gauff in three, thrilling sets.
