Ravens fans will love 1st-round pick’s do-everything attitude

The Baltimore Ravens’ selection of Olaivavega Ioane was a move to sure up the team’s offensive line. It’s not a bad idea to make Lamar Jackson more comfortable this season, as his 2024 MVP numbers showed a massive regression during the 2025 season. The Ravens had some of the worst pass-blocking metrics in the league last season, with Ravens quarterbacks taking 2.6 sacks per game. Not only will Ioane help with those issues, but he also has plans to be a leader in the future, according to Jeff Zrebiac via X, formerly Twitter.

“When things need to be said, I’ll definitely be the guy to do it,” Ioane stated.

Ioane’s leadership will be an asset, but the Ravens also need the guard to eventually lead their offensive line on the field. Tons of sources around the league believe that Ioane will become something big during his NFL career, according to Jay Glazer.

“Talking to a tonnnnn of personnel people, coaches, etc. I always ask guys to give me their ‘sure thing’ guys they think will absolutely have double digit years in this league on a Pro Bowl level,” Glazer wrote on Wednesday. “This year there were FOUR in the majority: [Fernando] Mendoza, [Jeremiyah] Love, [Caleb] Downs and Vega Ioane. Not to say others won’t but these four were mentioned in the majority of guys I talked to.”

The alleged best guard in the 2026 draft class also seems to have the intangibles off the field, as well. Baltimore is happy it happened, but you have to wonder why teams let him fall to be Jackson and Derrick Henry’s protector.
