The Los Angeles Rams have secured their quarterback of the future in Ty Simpson, and his transition into the NFL began with a warm welcome from Matthew Stafford’s family.
During his introductory press conference, Simpson shared that Kelly Stafford, Matthew’s wife, sent him a heartfelt message on Instagram to welcome him to Los Angeles and offer her assistance.
While Simpson is still waiting for his first conversation with the 17-year veteran starter, he expressed deep respect for Stafford and his eagerness to “pick his brain” and learn from one of the league’s most prolific passers.
General Manager Les Snead didn’t stop at securing a successor; he immediately went back to work to provide Matthew Stafford with additional support.
According to Ari Meirov on X, the Rams used the No. 61 overall pick to select Ohio State tight end Max Klare.

Klare is a versatile playmaker who earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors in 2025, finishing his college season with 43 receptions and 448 yards.
His ability to line up in various formations adds a new, flexible weapon to the Rams’ offense, which should help ease the burden on Stafford and the existing receiving corps.
The path to acquiring Simpson was paved by Snead’s early and unwavering belief in the Alabama standout.
Before declaring for the draft, Simpson turned down a substantial $6.5 million NIL offer to transfer to Miami.
His father, Jason, sought advice from several league executives, and Snead was vocal about his belief that Ty was a definite first-round talent.
Snead even met with the family at the Rams’ facility ahead of the Rose Bowl to express his support.
This strong commitment ultimately convinced Simpson to forgo the record-breaking collegiate offer and make the jump to the professional ranks, solidifying Snead’s long-term vision for the franchise.
