Rumors have speculated that the Las Vegas Raiders could trade star edge rusher Maxx Crosby this offseason. However, his lingering knee injury is a potential road bump in any trade negotiations. On Thursday, his injury timeline may reveal when he could be dealt, if Las Vegas opts to do so.
During the latest episode of “The Insiders,” Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Rapoport claimed that teams won’t be willing to trade for the 28-year-old defensive end unless he is healthy and can pass a physical. Crosby is expected to be healthy right around the time the 2026 NFL Draft begins in late April. If that’s the case, it opens up the opportunity for the Raiders to potentially trade Maxx Crosby around that time.
“[Crosby] had a meniscus repair, which, although a relatively minor one, it still gets measured in months, not weeks,” said Rapoport. “Really, what that means is it’s hard to imagine a team trading for Maxx Crosby without him being fully healthy and able to pass a physical.
“Which probably moves his timeline closer to the draft, or maybe before the season. That means, if the Las Vegas Raiders want to, one, convince Maxx Crosby to [return], or two, do right by him [and trade him]. They have plenty of time, milk, and get as much draft capital as they possibly can… Trading him makes sense.”

Health seems to be the key concern when it comes to Crosby. The five-time Pro Bowler has undergone four surgeries since 2021, with three of them being on his knees. Despite the injury woes, Maxx Crosby has played as one of the league’s best pass rushers. He ended the 2025-26 season with 73 total tackles (45 solo), 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
Trade rumors about Crosby will likely remain hot throughout the offseason. In the meantime, the Raiders will focus on free agency and the upcoming NFL Draft.
