Summer grassroots basketball is officially here. While countless states are still conducting their playoffs, with the CIF concluding its 2025-26 season this weekend in Sacramento, legendary independent event operator Dinos Trigonis brought some of the West Coast’s top underclassmen together at McBride High School in Long Beach for the Pangos Best of SoCal Spring League.
The invite only event brought players from all of the west coast and while comprised mostly of underclassmen, the Best of SoCal Spring League offered players that you will eventually be seeing at the high major level at some point in time. Sponsors Spalding and Roundballin brought no shortage of signage and gear for the players, and GameBook Stats offered totally accurate stats all throughout the weekend. All games were streamed on Baller TV and smaller college coaches were present on the baseline culminating with an outstanding event that gave you a glimpse of the future.
While the sophomore class stole the show at the Best of So-Cal, there were a number of seniors still left on the board who could help fill out a college roster, and here’s a deeper look at six in particular:

James Wright, 6’9, C, Loyola (Los Angeles), 2026
The most powerful big that the event had to offer, no one put a hurting on the rims more than James Wright. The old school big man set tough screens, is a powerful leaper off two feet, and did a great job of rebounding the ball en route to his Top 20 Cream of The Crop Game selection. Having played for former Ohio State champ coach Cam Joyce at Loyola, Wright has the tools to be a glue guy big at the collegiate level.
Gavin Kroll, 6’6, SF, Cypress (Calif.), 2026
Perhaps the best unsigned senior shooter, Gavin Kroll produced at a high rate throughout the weekend in Long Beach. He was near lights out shooting it with his feet set, made a number of really nice cuts, and showed some ability as a straight line driver. Reportedly an elite student, Kroll is definitely the type of player that high academic universities should be looking at.
Bryce Iwuoha, 6’6, SF/PF, Santa Monica (Calif.), 2026
Putting up monster numbers throughout the weekend, Bryce Iwuoha had an old style game that just got it done. He posted smaller defenders, shot the ball well with his feet set, and converted on a ton of crafty finishes at the rim. Bryce’s ability to score in a variety of ways out of the post and from the perimeter should make him a contributor quickly at the college level.
Jeremiah Lark, 6’4, SG, Oak Hills (Hesperia, Calif.), 2026
The definition of a power guard, Jeremiah Lark used his physical stature to flat out play through most opposing wings at the Best of SoCal Spring League. The natural scorer put points on the board in virtually every way throughout the weekend, utilizing his combination of strength and length to finish through guys once he went into the paint. The multiple 25 point plus outings that Lark had showed his scoring prowess and what he’ll bring to the table at the collegiate level.

Marco Varani, 6’6, SG, Elev8 Academy (Chino Hills, Calif.), 2026
There wasn’t a senior that offered more raw talent and upside than Marco Varani. The shooter with size is also a big time athlete, has superb length, and owns a great release. Having played with Seattle Rotary in the EYBL, Varani has bounced around at a few prep schools, but the Pacific Northwest product definitely has the pure ability that should place him on a D-1 roster at some point.
Will Malual, 6’9, PF/C, Crean Lutheran (Irvine, Calif.), 2026
As far as long term upside was concerned, there wasn’t a senior who offered more than Will Malual. The super long armed forward was elite running the floor, finished above the rim, and offered the defensive potential that you look for out of a forward in today’s game. Will be playing on the Puma circuit as an unsigned senior with Magic Select, where he is worth checking out.
