After sharing the field at Alabama in 2025, quarterback Ty Simpson and offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor are entering the 2026 NFL Draft together as hopeful first-round picks. Simpson is doing everything he can to help out his former teammate in the final hours before the big night officially begins.
Proctor’s biggest attribute entering the draft is his innate athleticism, which was on full display at the Combine and Alabama’s Pro Day. Simpson wants teams to know that the 350-pounder is not just athletic for his size, but one of the “most athletic human beings” on the planet.
“He’s probably the most athletic human being I’ve ever met in my life,” Simpson said on the ‘Up & Adams’ Show. “Six-foot-eight, 350 pounds now. You can put him at running back, tight end, wide receiver, left tackle, left guard. Any on the other side. He’s a baller.”
Proctor is currently a late-first-round to early-second-round prospect in most mock drafts. Opinions vary on where he sits in the 2026 NFL Draft offensive tackle rankings, with some placing him third — behind top-two prospects Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano — and others pushing Arizona State’s Max Iheanachor above him.
Simpson falls into the same range as a likely Day Two prospect with a window to potentially sneak into the first round. He is the consensus No. 2 quarterback, but is far behind eventual No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
Proctor’s 6-foot-7, 350-pound frame makes him the biggest of the early-round prospects, making his athleticism even more of an impressive feat. Kalen DeBoer took full advantage of his size, speed an agility at Alabama, using him on a trick-play screen pass that nearly resulted in a touchdown against Georgia.
