Medvedev Highlights Wednesday’s Action in Shanghai; Sabalenka Featured in Wuhan

Wednesday’s Preview in Shanghai and Wuhan

Wednesday’s action at the Rolex Shanghai Masters will feature former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev in fourth round action.

Taking on inform American Learner Tien, Medvedev will take a 0-2 head-to-head deficit into his round of 16 match on Wednesday. 

Tien recently made the finals of the China Open, losing to top seed Jannik Sinner in straight sets. 

Other matches on Wednesday will include No. 7 seed Alex de Minaur taking on Nuno Borges, No. 12 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime going up against No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti, and No. 15 seed Jiri Lehecka facing Arthur Rinderknech.

Rinderknech defeated No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev for the second time this year in three sets on Monday.

On Tuesday, No. 10 seed Holger Rune, and Zizou Bergs were victorious.

No. 4 seed Novak Djokovic needed three sets to get by Jaume Munar, and the day’s final match will feature Tallon Griekspoor vs. Valentin Vacherot.

Djokovic will next face Bergs in the quarterfinals. 

Wuhan Open Preview: Sabalenka Returns to Action

Wednesday’s action at the Wuhan Open in China will feature top seed Aryna Sabalenka taking on Rebecca Sramkov in her first match since winning the US Open.

Sabalenka will be joined on Wednesday by No. 3 seed Coco Gauff, No, 10 seed Clara Tauson, No. 12 seed Karolína Muchova, No. 13 seed Belinda Bencic and No. 16 seed Liudmila Samsonova.

On Tuesday, No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek, Linda Noskova, Sorana Cîrstea, Zhang Shuai, Magdalena Frech, and Ann Li were all victorious.

Li advanced to the round of 32 after former US Open winner Emma Raducanu retired in the second set to heat related issues.
