Man City star in talks over loan move to Championship side as club look to give £12.5m signing regular game time

Manchester City midfielder Sverre Nypan is in talks over a loan move to Middlesbrough.

The Championship side are also in discussions to sign Metz winger Cheikh Sabaly and still want to add a striker.

Norway international Nypan joined City from Rosenborg in June for a fee of £12.5million. He had previously been courted by Arsenal and Aston Villa while a loan move to Girona had also been mooted.

City, however, want the 18-year old to receive regular game time in a competitive league and believe he will benefit from playing under Rob Edwards in the Championship.

A deal is still to be reached but negotiations have been positive.

Boro are looking to strengthen further and have held talks with Metz for Sabaly. The 26-year old Senegal international scored 15 goals in 37 games last season.

However, Metz’s valuation is still above what Boro have earmarked and talks are in the balance.
