Jets rumors: ‘Every GM’ loves this potential draft target earning Deebo Samuel comps

Holding two first-round picks, the 2026 NFL Draft will be a pivotal moment for the New York Jets. The franchise knows they must add talent on both sides of the ball.

When it comes to offensive playmakers, the Jets are in desperate need at wide receiver. Garrett Wilson, for all his talent, can’t do everything on his own. In Peter Schrager of ESPN’s latest mock draft, New York adds wide receiver Omar Cooper at No. 16. He is a player that all general managers reportedly have their eye on leading up to the draft.

“Every GM I speak to seems to love Cooper,” Schrager wrote. “He’s fearless and tough as nails — and he produces, with 937 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. The comp I’ve heard is Deebo Samuel, and I don’t think that’s too wild to consider. The Jets are all about creating strong culture right now and building with guys who want it more than the ones lining up against them. That’s Cooper. He’d be a great complement to Garrett Wilson.”

Over his four years at Indiana, Cooper caught 115 passes for 1,798 yards and 22 touchdowns. He broke onto the scene as a senior, setting new-career highs across the board with 69 grabs for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns. Alongside winning the national championship with the Hoosiers, Cooper was named Second-team All-Big Ten.

Despite playing in just seven games, Wilson led all Jets wide receivers with 395 yards and four touchdowns. Players like Adonai Mitchell and tight end Mason Taylor have potential, but it’s clear New York needs more playmakers on their offense.

If Cooper is available at No. 16, he may be the answer. But the Jets won’t be the only team eyeing the Indiana star.
