Jets’ David Bailey immediately endears himself to fans with warning to Giants

The New York Jets made pass rusher David Bailey the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Now, he is ready to help get his new franchise back on track.

Once Bailey is officially in the NFL, he already will have one team circled on his schedule. The edge rusher wants to ensure that the Jets are kings of New York, via SNY.

“I look forward to beating up on the Giants, probably,” Bailey said.

David Bailey was asked if there is one team specifically that he looks forward to “beating up on”

Bailey will need to wait a little while, as the Jets and Giants won’t play until the 2027 season. Being in two different conferences, both teams will play sparingly. But when they do meet up, Bailey will be ready. To his credit, the Jets have won their last three matchups against the Giants.

No matter who they’re facing on the other side though, New York needs Bailey to produce. After three strong seasons at Stanford, he transferred to Texas Tech as a senior. There, Bailey put up 52 tackles while leading the big 12 in tackles for a loss (19.5) and the nation in sacks (14.5). He was named the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and a Unanimous All-American.

The Jets finished their 2025 campaign ranked 31st in the league with 26 sacks. Head coach Aaron Glenn knew his pass rush needed a major spark. Both he and New York as an organization are optimistic they found have that in Bailey.

Each game will be an opportunity for the pass rusher to prove why he went second overall. If the Jets’ opponent is the Giants though, Bailey will have some extra juice.
