HSBB: Chipotle Nationals Field Announced!

Will Chipotle Nationals be that one shining moment for Prolific Prep (Southwest Ranches, Fla.), the No. 1 team in the FAB 50 National Team Rankings, or will another ranked team in the 10-team field step up to the challenge and shake up the final FAB 50? We give a quick breakdown of the matchups and some insight to Chipotle Nationals.

The last two Chipotle Nationals (the end of-season tournament founded in 2009 when it was known as the ESPN RISE National High School Invitational) were somewhat of a coronation for eventual tournament champions Columbus (Miami, Fla.) in 2025 and Monverde Academy (Fla.) in 2024. Those two clubs, of course, were led by Cameron Boozer and Cooper Flagg, who are looked at as two of the best high school basketball talents to come down the pike in some time. Quite frankly, there teams were expected to win after opening up the season as the preseason No. 1 team in the FAB 50 National Team Rankings powered by Ballislife.com.

This year, there might not be a generational type talent such as Boozer or Flagg, but there are talented players, the field is balanced nearly every team feels it has a realistic shot to capture the end-of-season tournament.

Here is the bracket for the 2026 #ChipotleNationals:

Prolific Prep (Southwest Ranches, Fla.), the current No. 1 team in the FAB 50, will once against compete in the field, and is looking for its first event title. If it wins, it will be the third straight year a program in Florida wins the event. The Crew is the No. 4 seed and opens against seven-time event champion Montverde Academy. The top seed is AZ Compasd Prep (Chandler, Ariz.), which is also looking to win the event for the first time.

It’s is a wide-open field and should produce some exciting games. Can the seeds hold up? Let’s take a quick look at the field and the matchups set for Hamilton Southeastern High School (Fishers, Ind.), a stone’s throw from the 2026 NCAA Final Four.

Ballislife Team Analysis

Team: Prolific Prep (Southwest Ranches, Fla.)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 1 (36-3)
Tourney History: Sixth appearance
Ballislife Analysis: The Crew is confident its sixth appearance in the event is the one that finally brings them the tourney title and elusive FAB 50 ranking. Prolific Prep also holds an advantage in that it will play this upcoming weekend in the Grind Session National Championships in Kentucky. They are in the semifinals and would like to go into the event with positive momentum while the other teams wait. Their opponent, Montverde Academy, has been a bit up and down and has a loss to FAB 50 No. 27 Southeastern Prep Academy (Orlando, Fla.), Prolific Prep’s potential foe in the Grand Session World Championships title game.

Team: CIA Bella Vista (Phoenix, Ariz.)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 2 (23-4)
Tourney History: Second appearance
Ballislife Analysis: The Bears have plenty of positive momentum entering the event after winning the second annual EYBL Scholastic Conference Tournament, as seven of the 10 participants just competed in that event down in Augusta, Ga. This talented group point is led by EYBL Scholastic Most Valuable Player Miles Sadler, who is eager to not only prove he should have been in the McDonald’s All-American Game, but lead his team to a tournament tile. The Bears have lost to FAB 50 No. 1 Prolific Prep and have a split with tournament No. 1 seed AZ Compass Prep.

Team: Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 3 (33-2)
Tourney History: Third appearance
Ballislife Analysis: The Panthers are vey confident they can win this tournament, but they got a tough seed (No. 6) and a tough draw, as they play a talented CIA Bella Vista team that will be a FAB 50 No. 2 vs. No. 3 matchup. With Mr. Basketball USA candidate Jordan Smith Jr. leading the way, this team has a chance in each game. It took FAB 50 No. 1 Prolific Prep two overtimes to beat this team.

Team: AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, Ariz.)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 4 (24-2**)
Tourney History: Fifth appearance
Ballislife Analysis: The Dragons have fared well in this event, finishing as a runner-up in 2023, and are eager to get to the winner’s circle with a talented and balanced team led by point guard Kaden House and wing DeMarcus Henry. They entered the EYBLS Tourney as the No. 1 team in the FAB 50 and are the No. 1 seed in this event. They have a split with CIA Bella Vista and lost to Spire Academy, a team it could potentially face in the quarterfinals. Even as a No. 1 seed, it won’t be an easy path to the title game.

Dynamic Prep (Dallas, Texas)
FAB 50 Ranking: Not ranked
Tourney History: Second appearance
Ballislife Analysis: Former NBA All-Star Jermaine O’Neal has a unit capable of winning it all after advancing to the championship game last season, losing to FAB 50 champion Columbus (Miami, Ohio). This team could even be more talented, led by junior Marcus Spears Jr. and McDonald’s All-American Auston Goosby. Dynamic Prep has beaten event entrants Prolific Prep, Wasatch Academy and Montverde Academy.

Team: Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 5 (25-6)
Tourney History: Sixth appearance
Ballislife Analysis: Coach Paul Peterson has another quality team that was No. 2 in the FAB 50 just a week ago before losing in the EYBL Scholastic Tournament semifinals to then Fab 50 No. 1 AZ Compass Prep, 67-58. Led by a steady backcourt of Katrelle Harmon and Junior County, this team does own a win over CIA Bella Vista and is a dangerous No. 7 seed that actually already has a loss to No. 10 seed foe Link Academy.

Team: Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 7 (21-6)
Tourney History: 15th appearance
Ballislife Analysis: This program enters the tourney for an event record 15th times, but the first under coach Steve Turner. The Eagles picked up steam as the season wore on before losing to eventual EYBLS tourney champ CIA Bella Vista in the quarterfinals, 69-65. Turner has done a great job with this unit and gets FAB 50 No. 1 Prolific Prep in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup.

Team: Spire Academy (Geneva, Ohio)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 8 (28-4)
Tourney History: First appearance
Ballislife Analysis: Coach Kevin Boyle led Montverde Academy to seven titles (2013-15, 2018, 2021-22, 2024) at this event, and now leads a new program making its first appearance. Boyle was able to get this team up to his standards over the course of the season, even reaching No. 1 in the FAB 50, but it does have a loss to Montverde Academy and two to CIA Bella Vista, including a 70-53 semifinal loss down in Augusta. This could be a breakout event for talented junior guard King Gibson.

Team: Archbishop Stepinac (White Plain, N.Y.)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 15 (25-4)
Tourney History: First appearance
Ballislife Analysis: This program makes a splash into the event with three McDonald’s All-Americans: Jasiah Jervis and twins Adonis and Darius Ratliff. Similar to Prolific Prep, coach Patrick Massaroni’s club has a game prior to the event, taking on Eagle Academy (Bronx, N.Y.) in the New York CHSAA vs. PSAL Challenge on March 22 after winning a fourth consecutive “AA” City title. The No. 8 vs. No. 9 game is never an easy win, and this club does have an overtime loss to Montverde Academy and two to Paul VI.

Team: Link Academy (Branson, Mo.)
FAB 50 Ranking: No. 16 (23-4)
Tourney History: Fourth appearance (2023 champions)
Ballislife Analysis: The Lions, won the inaugural EYBL Scholastic Tournament last season, but are playing a step below that level so far after opening up No. 2 in the preseason FAB 50. If any team is talented enough to step up, it’s the Lions, who have three losses to teams in the field, but also own wins over FAB 50 No. 2 CIA Bella Vista, No. 5 Wasatch Academy and No. 7 Montverde Academy and hope to beat Wasatch Academy again in the No. 7 vs. 10 game.
