In the early morning hours following Super Bowl LX, Unrivaled announced the first trade of the 2026 season.

The league announced a four-club trade following the news that Breeze guard Aari McDonald would miss the regular season with a right lower extremity injury. Yet to make her season debut, McDonald suffered a season-ending foot injury during her time with the Indiana Fever (WNBA) in August of 2025.
Established in 2023 by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, Unrivaled is a three-on-three women’s professional basketball league. A league designed by players for players, it provides an opportunity for athletes to stay stateside during the offseason. With games mainly stationed in South Beach, fans can catch weekly games running from Friday through Monday.
Monday’s trade marked the first of the season. The league’s first-ever trade occurred in December 2024. The blockbuster deal sent Courtney Williams to Phantom BC in exchange for guard Natasha Cloud. Subsequently, the Laces flipped Cloud and a wild card at the time to Phantom BC for Jackie Young and Tiffany Hayes.
Here are the following details of today’s trade:
Breeze BC acquires Courtney Williams from Vinyl BC
Vinyl BC acquires Saniya Rivers from Hive BC
Hive BC acquires Azurà Stevens from Rose BC
A shocking trade, the moves will undoubtedly change the trajectory of the standings, team rosters, and even game plans. Let’s break down how the moves affect the teams involved.

Breeze BC
Current Roster: Courtney Williams (guard), Paige Bueckers (guard), Kate Martin (guard), Rickea Jackson (wing), Dominique Malonga (forward), Cameron Brink (forward), Aari McDonald (guard), out for the season.
Breeze BC has cooled off since its 2-0 start in early January. Having dropped three of its last four games, the addition of Williams brings much-needed guard depth to the club. Headlined by Bueckers, Jackson, Brink, and Malonga, this is a young team, but don’t sleep on them.
Let’s face it—3-on-3 basketball requires pace and space, especially on a condensed full-court. Through 10 games, this team has been rolling with limited guard depth, despite adding Haley Jones and Kiana Williams through the development pool.
Averaging 71.9 points per game, Breeze isn’t an offensive powerhouse, but could quickly improve by adding Williams. Notable for her mid-range prowess, I can’t wait to see more Williams/Bueckers pick-and-rolls with Malonga and Brink.
Overall, Breeze BC isn’t a heavy 3-point shooting team (30.6%), but it remains versatile and capable of attacking opponents in various ways. While the offense has been stagnant recently, Williams excels at creating her own shot and can drive downhill. Williams is a streaky shooter from beyond the arc, but adding a bucket getter is truly what this team needs right now.
Why Breeze is a Championship Contender
Plus, Williams adds an essential veteran presence. Aside from McDonald, every player was born post 2000, and the remainder of the roster has an average age of 23.4. As we approach the mid-way point of the season, Breeze BC has established itself as one of the premier defensive teams, allowing just 683 total points through 10 games.
Through 10 games with Vinyl BC, Williams averaged 7.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 11.5 minutes. Shooting 40% from the field and 28.6% from deep, Williams delivers energy, pace, defense, and an offensive boost.
As we’ve seen in the WNBA, Williams can break out at any moment, and when she’s hot, she shoots, especially coming off screens. Despite its record, I’m bullish on this young squad, and Williams makes them a strong contender moving forward.
Vinyl BC
Current Roster: Erica Wheeler (guard), Rae Burrell (wing), Rhyne Howard (wing), Saniya Rivers (wing), Dearica Hamby (forward), Brittney Griner (forward).
Vinyl BC’s inaugural success hasn’t translated this year, as they sit as the sixth seed with a 4-6 record. On paper, this is a talented team that includes Howard and 3×3 Olympian Hamby.
I truly believe this club needs a speedy guard, as they had with Williams. Rivers brings size to an already wing-heavy team and defense, something this team has prided itself on. While she’s been inconsistent on the offensive end, Rivers should excel in Teresa Weatherspoon’s scheme: she’s a menace on defense, making hustle plays and diving for 50/50 balls. Plus, she’s an incredible human who brings ENERGY.

The question remains: How will Rivers boost the offense that ranks toward the bottom? Mainly a product off the bench, she averaged 5.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks. Playing just 9.6 minutes per game, she’s shooting 30% from the field and 15.8% from three in her first Unrivaled season.
While it’s unclear how well Rivers will fit with the current roster, she will provide an instant boost on the defensive end. If it’s going to make a run, perhaps its size, length, and defense will define it.
Rivers has already been seen repping Vinyl BC gear on social media and looks amped for a fresh start. In addition, Unrivaled has released footage of Rivers already training with her new squad.
“What’s up, y’all? Y’all already know who it is, and y’all see what it is. Ya’ll ready to spin, spin that sh*t.”
Hive BC
Current Roster: Sonia Citron (guard), Kelsey Mitchell (guard), Natisha Hiedeman (guard), Monique Billings (forward), Ezi Magbegor (forward), Azurà Stevens (forward).
Hive BC has picked up some steam after its latest victory over Breeze BC. There’s no question that Hive BC struggled early in the season, putting its lack of offensive flow on full display. Not one player brought prior Unrivaled experience, setting the team back from the start.
Holding a 3-7 record and sitting seventh in the standings, the club owns a worst -88 point differential. The first half of the season was rocky. Considered one of the least efficient teams on the defensive end, Hive BC averages the fewest points scored per game in Unrivaled (65.7 PPG).
Don’t let that fool you—Hive BC has immense talent with Citron, Mitchell, and Hiedeman. The injury has set in, and Magbegor hasn’t laced up since Jan. 24 due to a right lower-extremity injury. Through injuries and all, there’s optimism on the horizon: three of its last four games have been decided by three points or less. Although taking losses to Vinyl BC and Breeze BC, both games combined were decided by five points or fewer.
What Azurà Stevens Brings to the Club
Leaving Billings on her own island, Hive BC, without question, struggles on the boards due to a lack of size. Ranking last in rebounds per game (30.2 RPG), this is a club that’s faced challenges on the offensive and defensive boards.
Although Stevens hasn’t played since Jan. 30 due to injury, she brings much-needed size, along with her ability to space the floor. An instant boost on the boards, we saw Stevens record points in double figures during the first stretch of the season.
Stevens has the ability to not only provide high-volume scoring, but has emerged as a legitimate flamethrower from beyond the arc. The third-leading scorer on Rose BC, Stevens averaged 9.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in eight games with Rose. In that span, she’s shooting 39% from the floor and 26.9% from three.
I’m a big fan of the Stevens addition and believe Hive has the right pieces to turn things around.
Unrivaled Trade Alert
Breeze BC will receive Courtney Williams from Vinyl BC.
Vinyl BC will receive Saniya Rivers from Hive BC.
Hive BC will receive Azurá Stevens from Rose BC.
Per Unrivaled, the trades follow the announcement of Breeze BC’s Aari McDonald being…

Rose BC
Current Roster: Chelsea Gray (guard), Kahleah Copper (guard), Sug Sutton (guard), Lexie Hull (wing), Shakira Austin (forward)
The winner of the Unrivaled inaugural championship, Rose BC, is fifth in the standings with a 5-5 record. Back in the win column following two straight losses, the team, in my opinion, has the pieces to repeat. Especially now that Copper is healthy and back in action.
While Austin and Stevens established a formidable frontcourt tandem, it’s unclear why Rose BC decided to trade Stevens. As of now, Rose BC has not received an immediate return, so how does the trade benefit them? Stevens’s departure leaves Rose BC with a smaller lineup and less ability to stretch the floor.
Will there be more moves leading up to the one-on-one tournament? Rose is very much still in playoff contention. If Rose BC decides to spark another trade, I feel Stevens fit vthis roster like a glove. Especially when head coach Nola Henry initiated a double-big lineup on several occasions to close out games. The roster lists only five members, with “coming soon” on Rose BC’s website. That’s not a cliff hanger or anything!
