The Arizona Cardinals are looking for a significant boost to their offense at the NFL Draft after releasing Kyler Murray over the offseason. While a quarterback should be on their priority list, they could wait until 2027 when the quarterback class is a little deeper. That could leave Jeremiyah Love as the Cardinals’ option at the third overall pick, setting up a potential one-two punch down the road. If they do take Love, it’ll set up some history, according to Ari Meirov via X, formerly Twitter.
“If the Cardinals were to select Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love at No. 3—which has gained some traction—he would get a 4-year, $50.5M fully guaranteed deal, the most fully guaranteed money ever given to a RB in NFL history,” Meirov reported. “The $12.6M average per year would rank 7th among RBs in the NFL.”
Saquon Barkley currently holds the record for the largest guaranteed contract for a running back, earning $36 million on his two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The $12.6 million average for Love would put him behind only Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, Derrick Henry, Kenneth Walker III, Jonathan Taylor, and Alvin Kamara. It would be quite the lofty company for the rookie running back.
While Love feels like a potential fit for the Cardinals, there are other directions they can go. ClutchPoints’ Tim Crean believes that the Cardinals could target LB/EDGE Arvell Reese out of Ohio State, according to his Mock Draft 6.0. The move would signal that the Cardinals are punting on one more season before upgrading their offense in time to make a push the following year.
