Fernando Mendoza visiting Raiders, but there’s also another intriguing draft prospect on radar

With a potential franchise quarterback waiting, the Las Vegas Raiders have one direction. And while they’re meeting with Fernando Mendoza, there’s another intriguing draft prospect on their radar, according to a post on X by Dianna Russini.

“Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza is scheduled to visit with the Raiders today. It’s the fourth touchpoint between Las Vegas and the presumptive No. 1 pick, who met during the combine, once virtually and after his pro day last week.”

A later target could be a wide receiver to pair with Mendoza, according to a post on X by Ian Rapoport.

“Along with 20+ Zoom meetings, Zachariah Branch has Top 30 visits with the #Falcons and #Raiders, he tells us.”

Is this the future one-two punch for the Raiders?

What would WR Zachariah Branch bring to the Raiders?

The thing that stands out about Branch is his athleticism, according to bleacherreport.com.

“Zachariah Branch is one of the most dynamic athletes in college football,” Damian Parson wrote. “He is lightning in a bottle and a dangerous playmaker out in space. His agility and elusiveness make it difficult for defenders to bring him down in one-on-one situations.”

Branch’s ceiling is high, as he has the potential to be a plus starter, according to NFL.com.

“Slot receiver who can turn routine touches into explosive gains,” Lance Zierlein wrote. “Branch is strong for his size and very tough. He could be pigeon-holed into a “manufactured touch” role, but he’s capable of more. He should help move the sticks and return punts before eventually settling in as a starting slot.”

Of course, these things mean other teams will have their eyes on Branch, too. And that means the Raiders might have to clip the Falcons to reel in the talented receiver.

Would the Raiders be willing to spend pick No. 36 on Branch? That will be an interesting call if he is still on the board.
