Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Guehi to Liverpool CERTAIN, Baleba TALKS, PSG’s Donnarumma DEMAND

Football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has given updates from the biggest stories of the day, including Liverpool’s chase for Marc Guehi and Manchester United’s hunt to land Carlos Baleba from Brighton.

Ramsey to Newcastle close

Only the final details need to be tidied up between Newcastle and Aston Villa when it comes to a deal for England star Jacob Ramsey.

Romano told his YouTube channel: “Newcastle sent an official bid of £38m plus £2m in add ons last night. Aston Villa want £40m guaranteed. On Wednesday, the deal can be done. Jacob Ramsey is expected to join Newcastle. West Ham also approached the player, but he wants Newcastle. The deal is almost done.”

Donnarumma PSG relationship broken

Romano says that not only will Gianluigi Donnarumma leave PSG this summer, but he will do so with a bad taste in his mouth.

“It’s one of the big stories of recent days. There have been some important developments,” Romano says. “Luis Enrique spoke to the press and said it was his decision. The coach has taken responsibility. Donnarumma has made a statement, saying he is sad and disappointed by PSG. His agent spoke, too. Enzo Raiola said that he’s going to consider something with his legal team, but also that PSG were close to a new agreement, then out of nowhere the plan was changed. Basically, the relationship is completely broken.

“Raiola says that the Premier League is the most likely destination due to the financial request made by PSG. What are these requests? Raiola says it’s just about the money. On Monday, PSG and Man City spoke about Donnarumma. PSG asked for €50m. Obviously, this is impossible to get.

“City are interested in Donnarumma only if Ederson leaves. Galatasaray are keen on Ederson. The contract is not a problem from what I understand. Donnarumma is open to it. He wants to play Champions League. Now it depends on the clubs. City will never pay £50m and Ederson has to go.”

FootballTransfers exclusively broke news of City’s interest in Donnarumma via The Transfers Podcast earlier this month.

Baleba to Man Utd latest

Man Utd’s ambitious move for Carlos Baleba continues to be a hot topic at Old Trafford, with Ruben Amorim’s side still having their eyes fixed on the Cameroon star.

“Contacts continue for Carlos Baleba. Today, Man Utd spoke to the agents of the player again,” Romano confirmed.

“They’re prepared to understand how much Brighton want. Let’s see what’s going to happen. Man Utd are still not moving on another midfielder. Now they want to see if they can make it happen or if Brighton have no intention to sell.”

Guehi WILL join Liverpool, Romano promises

Marc Guehi’s move to Liverpool is just a matter of time, Romano says. The issue is whether they can broker a deal this summer or now.

“Liverpool are a big part of this transfer market. They’re in advanced talks with Marc Guehi. The agreement is done,” Romano said.

“They’re in advanced talks with Crystal Palace, so this deal could be done this summer to avoid a free transfer in 2026. If it doesn’t happen now, it will happen next summer for sure. But Liverpool and Palace have a good relationship, so they’re trying to reach an agreement.”

But Guehi is not the only centre-back the Reds are trying to sign.

“Liverpool are in direct contact for Giovanni Leoni. Club-to-club talks are ongoing. Parma want more than the reported €30m,” Romano added.

“Forget about the reports saying Leoni needs to be convinced to go to Liverpool. He wants to go there. No one can turn Liverpool down at this level, especially coming from Parma.

“We’ve had some reports that the deal will be done now for 2026. I’ll be honest with you that this is not true. They’re negotiating to sign Leoni now. I know media is saying maybe for next year, but this is completely invented. Liverpool want him for now, and they want Marc Guehi for now.”

Man City pushing for Rodrygo

Could there be one last big summer move at Manchester City? Romano believes so.

“Pep Guardiola is pushing to have Rodrygo to Manchester City. In internal conversations with City, he keeps insisting him on a target,” the Italian reporter says.

“But this deal can only happen if Savinho goes to Tottenham. At the moment, there’s still no agreement between Spurs and City.

I can confirm 100% that City are interested in Rodrygo

“I can confirm 100% that City are interested in Rodrygo but the deal can only happen with outgoings. James McAtee to Nottingham Forest and especially this one: Savinho to Tottenham. These are the two deals needed to raise the money and reinvest.

“Real Madrid are starting at €100m, so it’s not a negotiation that will be done in a few hours.”
